The TTC Speed Silver is a switch designed for gaming in mind and it is a direct clone of the Cherry MX Speed Silver.

Note: This review features the TTC Speed Silver V1. A V2 is also available on the market though the specification differences between the two are minimal.

TL;DR

Whilst TTC is more well-known for their unusual switches, such as the TTC Bluish White and TTC Gold Blue, the Speed Silver is pretty a standard switch in their catalogue.

Their performance is akin to Gateron Pro V3 Silver – one the more balanced gaming switches on the market and one that I prefer over the ultra-sensitive Cherry MX Speed Silver.

Smoothness: 8/10

On-centre keypresses are very smooth with only very minor scratchiness in a couple of switches.

Off-centre keypresses aren’t so much “scratchy”, but they do lightly bind similarly to the Kailh BOX Speed Ultimate, but in a much less noticeable manner. It’s only really noticeable on very slow keypresses and not when normally typing.

Overall, these are amongst the smoothest gaming switches out there. It directly competes with the Gateron Pro V3 Silver in this segment.

Weighting: 5/10

According to TTC, these switches have an actuation force of 45g at 1.08mm, and have a total travel of 3.4mm.

In the real world, they actuate much lower than 1.08mm. I strongly believe they made a typo and that it should’ve stated 1.8mm instead. Other than that, everything else seems to be on point.

Now, with all that said, these are still very light switches. You have to remember that these are essentially (and as with many linear gaming switches) a more sensitive Cherry MX Red in many cases. I’m already not a big fan of the MX Red which in turn makes these a bit more undesirable in my eyes.

Overall, I have to give TTC credit here as they performed consistently across my testing period with little to no faults. They simply just don’t align with my preferences as I generally prefer heavier switches.

Sound: 6/10

A mixture of remnant scratchiness, thinness and mild emptiness. Of course, they’re also on the clacky side given my aluminium case.

Overall, are they terrible? No. Amazing? No. Better than average? Yeah… ever so slightly.

Typing Performance: 5/10

As with many gaming switches, typing isn’t what they’re designed for. Although, the TTC Speed Silver’s performance here was acceptable given its actuation point is noticeably lower compared to other speed switches making typing more tolerable.

However, I found myself making a few typos throughout my testing period. Plus, some switches have slightly different actuation points and whilst it was hardly noticeable at times, it’s a sign of QC issues. Moreover, its overall lightly weighted nature makes it unsuitable for extended typing sessions.

Overall, it’s a slightly more sensitive ‘Red’ switch with less travel.

Gaming Performance: 7/10

The TTC Speed Silver’s gaming performance is solid. It performs well in both fast and slow-paced games with little to no scratchiness or inconsistencies.

However, as with many gaming switches, its lightly weighting specifications mean that accidental keypresses are more commonplace, and that was the case with these switches too. Although, since its actuation point is much lower compared to other speed switches, it didn’t happen as often.

Overall, this is one of the most balanced speed switches you can buy. It’s pretty much in-line with the Gateron Pro V3 Silver in this regard. I’d say to and buy which ever one is cheaper if you’re deciding between the two.

Final Score = 31/50 (62%)
